Hydraulic Flow and Pressure Checklist

What to verify before selecting a shear, pulverizer, auger, compactor or rotating attachment.

Hydraulic Flow and Pressure Checklist

Hydraulic attachments must be matched to the usable circuit, not just the carrier size. Confirm the machine settings, plumbing and control functions before finalizing motors, cylinders and valves.

01

Verify the available circuit

Use the carrier manual or a measured service report where possible. Record continuous and maximum values separately so the attachment is not selected around a short-duration peak.

  • Usable flow range
  • Working and relief pressure
  • Return-line arrangement
  • Case drain requirement
02

List every required function

Opening, closing, rotation, tilt and auxiliary movements may require separate controls or a switching valve. The operator interface should be understood before hoses are specified.

  • Primary working function
  • Continuous or intermittent rotation
  • Open/close and rotate simultaneously
  • Electrical control or foot-pedal availability
03

Confirm installation details

Hose length, port size, couplers and protection affect installation and serviceability. Include the preferred connection standard and photos of the boom plumbing.

  • Port and coupler standard
  • Hose routing and protection
  • Required hose length
  • Commissioning and pressure-setting plan
